Teacher's Centre

The Playground to Fairway School Golf Program is an excellent way for teachers to introduce the game of golf to their students.  Golf is not only a great way for kids to be physically active, but it also gives them the opportunity to learn valuable life skills such as honesty and respect.

Playground to Fairway is guided by the Long Term Player Development Model for Golf in Canada and uses the “Learn to Play” stage of development to reach children in grades four, five and six (ages eight through 12).  The physical activity for each session is guided by a trained Playground to Fairway Golf Coach, with help from teachers/volunteers.  Recognizing class structure and scheduling constraints, Playground to Fairway lessons are adapted to meet each school’s requirements.

Playground to Fairway currently offers a first-time introduction to golf for students in grades four through six at no charge to the school.  If your school is interested simply complete the Playground to Fairway Booking Sheet and return it to Kathy Gook, Director of School Golf at British Columbia Golf.

Following the session, schools interested in starting a golf program are encouraged to partner with British Columbia Golf to access resources and implement programming.  Starting New At Golf (SNAG) instructor certification, equipment, and manuals are available for teachers who want to conduct their own sessions.
